KERDI-Board | Truck Organization
Having power in the bed of our trucks is extremely practical. The downside is that with sliding beds there is little space to the side for charging equipment, and when placing equipment in the sliding bed it slides all over. I chose to add a junction box to my sliding bed retaining wall, and then I shortened my power cords to my devices I frequently use, and created 'fixed' places for them by using KERDI-Board in my sliding bed. Now I never need to unplug one device to charge another, because I have a two outlet junction box right on the slider itself. See below.
I used 2" KERDI-Board on the sliding bed (anchored with a few screws and washers). I cut out tool placement. I have three buckets across the back (one for PPE's, one for Pheasant hunt gear - seasonal, and one spot for two smaller buckets for DEMO use - mortar and water). I also cut in a spot for my portable vacuum, and power box (used for DEMO'ing LED's, TV PK's and thermostats). No more messy truck bed! Yes, I lost 2" of vertical storage, but organization means so much more to me.
I also use KERDI-Board and Z-Channels for a second storage layer that I can quickly and easily remove out of one of the side sliding windows. I had to remove the screen to make that possible. Screen left intact on the other window. I notched the Z-Channels to accomodate my stainless steel UPOD assembly. Works great!
Below is hard to distinguish, but I am trying to show that the power cord running from the truck bed outlet to my sliding bed junction box is cut to the perfect length. It doesn't get caught when I slide the bed in our out.
