Schluter Systems 10 Year & Lifetime FULL SYSTEM Warranties


WHAT IS A FULL RESOLUTION WARRANTY?

Schluter Systems will offer a 10-year full resolution warranty, or when our Schluter ALL-Set is incorporated, a lifetime full resolution warranty. But what does full resolution mean? 

A full resolution warranty covers you on the full cost of your project: including both materials and labor. Many other warranties only cover the cost of product replacement, leaving you on the hook for the tile, setting material, and labor costs.

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR A FULL RESOLUTION WARRANTY?

The key to qualifying your project for a full resolution warranty is to follow our installation handbooks. Be familiar with the detail that applies to your application and follow it without deviation. If your application cannot be found within one of the details in our handbooks, contact your Schluter Territory Manager. They can help you by acting as a liaison with our technical team to give you correct install advice to qualify your project. 

DO NOT ASSUME and DO NOT CUT A CORNER. With respect, we have all heard someone say they know a better way; we have all heard someone share how long they have been installing tile. I humbly warn, there is a danger in that mentality. Schluter Systems has extensively tested our product, and we can guarantee that it will perform as designed when it is installed as instructed. Product failures can happen when assumptions are made.

WHAT IF I CHOOSE NOT TO FOLLOW THE INSTALL HANDBOOK?

The short of this question is that you lose the full resolution protection. If you choose to mix manufacturers or not follow details, and if your install fails - Schluter Systems is only obligated to replace the item that failed. This scenario gives you a 1-year product only warranty.

As the installer, you are the climber. Your task is to climb mountains. Schluter is the Belayer. We are your safety down below (and along the way). Not using these resources is a free climb that could end in an unfortunate way.

LIFETIME WARRANTY

When you install DITRA or DITRA-XL, the Shower System, KERDI or KERDI-DS, DITRA-HEAT or DITRA-HEAT-DUO with one of our Schluter thin-set mortars, your installation may be eligible for lifetime warranty coverage. Keep your invoices and keep an empty bag of mortar to provide batch information.

KERDI-SHOWER-CB for KERDI Drain Adapter

If you are familiar with our Schluter KERDI-Drain/KERDI-Line adapters (for tying the KERDI shower system into a pre-installed two stage drain), and you want to use a Schluter Shower Tray , then you know the tray will need to be lifted so that the drain flange will nest properly onto the shower tray recess. This is because the drain body and the adapter are installed over the subfloor rising above the surface enough to inhibit proper flange nesting on the tray. The solution required the installer to source enough 1/2" backer to fully embed beneath the shower tray to lift it enough so that the flange would nest properly. Usually this required two layers of 1/2" beneath the tray. Schluter now offers a 1" thick foam compensation board called KERDI-Shower-CB ( KSCB 25 610 1220 ), which is a 48" x 24". DITRA-Heat in Shower | Detail & Tray Adjustments

Installing DITRA-Heat in a shower increases the floor assembly height by the thickness of the membrane used; 1/4” for DITRA-Heat membrane and 5/16” for DITRA-Heat DUO membrane. DH-SH-23 is the detail taken from the DITRA-Heat installation handbook with critical information for installing DITRA-Heat in a shower application. Photos of the detail are included below. When Using Schluter Shower Trays Remove the center break-out section of the tray that supports the drain flange, highlighted in green below. Use the break-out as a template to cut a ring out of the DITRA-Heat membrane that you are using.  Install the DITRA-Heat membrane underneath the break-out support to lift the flange assembly up to meet the DITRA-Heat membrane that will be installed over the shower tray as shown below.   KERDI waterproofing membrane must be installed over the wire in the shower floor so that the sealed waterproof envelope is over the whole assembly.
